Nearly one out of five children are invisible: It is estimated that in Latin America
8.5 million children (18%) are not registered after birth. Without a birth certificate,
children become invisible and can be denied access to education, health care and
inheritance rights.

Comprehensive early childhood development is the number one priority for the reduction of poverty in Latin America.
